TUF 10: Last two episodes this Wednesday at 9pm

This Wednesday's season finale of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights will be a two-hour mega-episode featuring four fights — the last two quarterfinal bouts and both semifinal matches — along with some heated emotions courtesy of Marcus "Big Baby" Jones. As you can see in the above preview, the eye-pokes that Scott Junk sustained in his fight against Matt Mitrione turn out to be career-threatening. When Jones hears the bad news about his friend, he gets way up in the face of the meatheaded culprit and promises him death. Mitrione figures if he keeps quiet and doesn't make eye contact, the Babystorm will eventually drift away. Does it work, or does Matt catch a beating that knocks them both out of the competition? And how anti-climactic will this "final twist" be? Only two more days until all the questions are answered and we can finally put this season behind us.

Here are the Fantasy TUF 10 scores so far:
31 - Team CJ
27 - Team Jon
24 - Team Adam
21 - Team Roxanne
20 - Team Tammy
14 - Team Roy
08 - Team Jen
01 - Team Tommy

Remaining quarterfinal bouts:
(Team Roxanne's) James McSweeney vs. (Team CJ's) Matt Mitrione

(Team Jon's) Marcus Jones vs. (Team CJ's) Darrill Schoonover

Semifinals Fighters:

Fantasy TUF 10: Episode 10

Last week, Roy Nelson won the quarterfinal fight with Justin Wren in a bout that really should have gone to the third round. Also, we got to hear Matt Mitrione hem and haw about whether his head was too "rattled" to fight. Will he actually fight? We'll find out ... maybe.

Mitrione comes into the gym and tells Rashad Evans and the other coaches a bunch of different stories about what is wrong with his head. He goes as far as saying that it's swelling of the brain, which Trevor Wittman rightly calls BS. The coaches still don't know what he's going to do, because they want him to want it.
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson hears that Mitrione is back in, but is still preparing Kimbo Slice to get ready to fight. Slice hurt his knee, so the coaches try to prepare him to fight around the knee problem. The doctor came into see Kimbo and told him that the best option is a cortizone shot. However, Kimbo says that he doesn't want that big needle.

COACHES' CHALLENGE!
If you're unfamiliar with the awesomeness that is the coaches' challenge, it's when we all get to watch the coaches play each other in a sport that they don't know how to play for a wad of cash. Hilarity almost always ensues. Tonight's coaches' challenge feature Rashad Mike Van Arsdale facing Rampage and Tiki Ghosn playing each other in beach volleyball. The winning coaches will get $10,000 and the winning coaches' team members will each get $1,500.
In something resembling the beach volleyball scene from Top Gun, Rashad and Mike Van Arsdale take off their shirts to play some volleyball. Team Rampage takes the first game, but Team Rashad comes back to win the second game. Dana White says that it turns into a really good volleyball game. I don't know if such a thing exists, Dana. Team Rashad wins the final game, taking the match from Rampage and Tiki. There is much joy in Team Rashadville.
After the game, Rashad shows off the money he just won, and tells Rampage that he should give some of his money to his fighters. I don't really understand the logic. Rampage asks his fighters if they would rather get money or see Rampage knock Rashad out? They answer that they want to see Rampage win. Since Rampage backed away from the fight, does that mean that he owes each of his fighters $1500?

Will he or won't he?
Mitrione has another talk with his coaches and doesn't really ever go out and say that he wants to fight. He says that he feels pressured to fight. In the confessional, Mitrione says that he just wants to go home and get back to his normal life. Rashad finally says enough and calls Dana White to tell him that Mitrione is out. Oooh, does that mean we get the Dana "Do you Want to Be a Fucking Fighter" speech?
Yes! Dana tells them the "You're never 100% when you fight". Mitrione says, "I think that it's maybe 90% directed towards me." Hmmm, maybe there is something wrong with his head, because that was completely directed at you, Meathead.

(Team Tammy's) Brendan Schaub (Coach Rashad) vs. (Team Jen's) Jon Madsen (Coach Rashad)
Round 1: After a minute of stand-up, Madsen gets the expected takedown of Schaub. He smothered Schaub for a little more than a minute until the referee stands them up. Schaub gets in clinch work and avoids Madsen's takedown until the final minute. Madsen keeps Schaub down until the bell rings.
Round 2: Madsen tries for the takedown early on, but isn't as successful this time around. Schaub shakes Madsen off and continues the stand-up. Fatigue is starting to set in, but Schaub finds enough in him to stalk down Madsen, land two rights in a row, and knock out Madsen. Schaub is the winner. He then takes a bow over his fallen teammate.

-(Team Tammy's) Brendan Schaub def (Team Jen's) Jon Madsen by KO in the 2nd Round for 9pts.
-Team CJ, Team Roxanne, Team Roy, and Team Adam each earn 1pt for having Rashad as their coach.
-Team CJ, Team Roxanne, Team Roy, and Team Adam each earn 5pts for winning the Coaches Challenge.

UFC Fight Night 20

The long-rumored next installment of the UFC Fight Night series is set for the Patriot Center at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. UFC Fight Night 20 takes place Monday January 11th.

As previously reported, the event features a headliner between lightweight contenders Gray Maynard (8-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and Nate Diaz (11-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC). Additionally, a bout between Efrain Escudero (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and fellow undefeated lightweight Evan Dunham (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has been tapped as the night's official co-main event.

Maynard, who could earn a title shot with a win, recently moved to 8-0 and picked up his sixth straight UFC victory with a split-decision win over Roger Huerta in September. The former Michigan State wrestler actually first fought Diaz on "TUF 5," where he suffered a submission loss in the competition's semifinal round. It's been all domination since then; after a bizarre no-contest with Rob Emerson at the show's live finale (after what was deemed an unofficial double-TKO caused by a Maynard slam), "The Bully" has posted six straight victories, though the past five have come via decision.
Diaz, meanwhile, looks to build off his recent victory over Melvin Guillard in the main event of UFC Fight Night 19. After defeating Manny Gamburyan to win "TUF 5," Diaz ran his win streak to five (with wins over notables Kurt Pellegrino and Josh Neer) to enter the UFC's lightweight title picture. His championship aspirations, though, took a hit with subsequent back-to-back losses to Clay Guida (split decision) and Joe Stevenson (unanimous decision). Even during the losses, Diaz cashed in. He's won one of the UFC's official "fight night" bonuses in a staggering five straight fights with three Fight of the Night bonuses and two Submission of the Night awards. The bonuses have amounted to an extra $170,000 in pay.

Escudero, meanwhile, remains undefeated 12 fights into his MMA career. After upsetting Phillipe Nover in December 2008 to win the "TUF 8" title, Escudero earned the first TKO of his career by halting Cole Miller in the first round of UFC in December. His opponent, Dunham, made his UFC debut earlier this year and upset Per Eklund as a late replacement at UFC 95. Dunham followed that performance with a hard-fought split-decision win over Marcus Aurelio at UFC 102 in August.

The latest rumored UFC Fight Night 20 card includes:
-Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard
-Evan Dunham vs. Efrain Escudero
-Chris Leben vs. Jay Silva*
-Nik Lentz vs. Jeremy Stephens*
-Tom Lawlor vs. Aaron Simpson*
-Kyle Bradley vs. Rafael dos Anjos*
-Jesse Lennox vs. Rick Story*
-Nick Catone vs. Steve Steinbeiss*
-Mike Guymon vs. Rory MacDonald*
* - Not officially announced

Fantasy TUF 10: Episode 9

In this tenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," the quarterfinals are set with seven of Rashad Evans' fighters still in the mix, and just one of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's athletes, Marcus Jones, still alive.

Rashad is already concerned about how to coach seven guys who will end up facing each other. The solution is that their practices won't be as specialized, and they won't be giving directions on how to beat their opponent. Roy Nelson and Justin Wren are the first to fight, and they are already noticing how weird it is to practice with their opponent.

On the way home from practice, Matt Mitrione acts as if something's wrong with his head. He said that his headache was really bad, and that he was dizzy and nauseous. The guys wonder if he has a concussion, which could open the door for another fighter *cough* Kimbo Slice *cough* to come back. Mitrione is taken to the hospital, and the coaches wait to find out his status.

This season has been relatively low on pranks, but Rampage and his assistant coach/yes man Tiki Ghosn put an end to that. Since they think Team Rashad is so cocky, they fill Team Rashad's coaches' cars with cocks. That's right -- they fill it with stinky chickens. As Rampage puts it, "Those chickens were FUNKY."
When Rashad and his coaches come out, they take it well. They named the chickens, ran after them and even employed a certain training method from "Rocky." Rampage is disappointed that not only does Rashad take it well, but that he gets a new, better rental car for the duration of the show.

Back at the house, Mitrione gets back from the hospital and says that his brain is rattled. Kimbo thinks that Meathead just has "sand in his vagina". Dana White shows up to check in on Mitrione, and tells him that if the doctor clears him, he has to fight. Scott Junk points out that he's ready to go if Mitrione can't.

Finally, they start talking about this week's fight. Dana points out that Roy Nelson really loves Roy Nelson, but Dana is yet to be impressed by him. Nelson says that Wren looks up to him as a mentor.

(Team Jon's) Roy Nelson (Coach Rashad) vs. (Team Adam's) Justin Wren (Coach Rampage)

Round 1: Wren starts off the fight throwing several combinations at Nelson until Nelson pushes Wren against the fence. They are pulled off the fence, and again, Wren is the aggressor. Nelson finally wakes up in the final two minutes of the round, landing a few punches when Wren lets his hands drop. Nelson finishes the round by running away from Wren's punches. Cagewriter gives the first round to Wren.
Between rounds, Rampage says to Zak Jensen, who is admiring Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste, "Why are you looking at my girlfriend like that? Ha ... She wishes!" Of course she does, Rampage.

Round 2: Wren starts the round throwing punches and kicks, but Nelson doesn't appear to be fazed. The two get into a clinch, where Nelson uses the upper cut. They break up and Nelson lands a hook and a jab and a jab and a jab and a jab. After that, a jab. Nelson really comes alive as the round reaches its final minute, whereas Justin is gassed.

The fight is over after two rounds, which doesn't seem to make sense as Justin seemed to win round one, and Nelson seems to have won round two. Unfortunately, the judges don't agree as they score it 20-18, 19-19, 20-18 for Roy Nelson. White says, "The day we see Roy Nelson in a fight that is exciting that he made exciting, I will give him his props."

-(Team Jon's) Roy Nelson def (Team Adam's) Justin Wren via majority decision for 7pts.
-Team CJ, Team Roxanne, Team Roy, and Team Adam each earn 1pt for having Rashad as their coach.

UFC 105: This Saturday at 8pm

After the controversial ending to Machida vs. Rua, the UFC is looking to bounce back hard in their next event (Saturday November 14th at 8pm in Manchester, England), which features three very compelling bouts on the main card. Headlining UFC 105 will be Randy Couture's return to the light-heavyweight division against Brandon Vera, who describes the match as "what we've been training for since day one." A win for Vera may finally establish his legitimacy at 205; a win for Couture staves off retirement for at least one more fight and puts him on the path to a title shot.

Supporting the main event will be Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang. Bisping is looking to erase the memory of his knockout loss to Dan Henderson in July, while Kang wants to introduce himself to UFC fans in this fight (despite the fact that he's already fought in the Octagon twice) and feels he can do everything better than the Count. Also, Mike Swick and Dan Hardy meet up in a classic U.S. vs. U.K. battle. Hardy has been training his boxing with Freddie Roach — could it be the advantage he needs to survive Quick's onslaught?

Rounding out the card will be TUF9 Welterweight winner James Wilks vs. Matt Brown and TUF9 Lightweight winner Ross Pearson vs. Aaron Riley.

Main card
Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera (HW)
Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy (WW)
Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang (MW)
James Wilks vs. Matt Brown (WW)
Ross Pearson vs. Aaron Riley (LW)
Preliminary card

Paul Taylor vs. John Hathaway (WW)
Nick Osipczak vs. Matthew Riddle (WW)
Paul Kelly vs. Dennis Siver (LW)
Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jared Hamman (LHW)

Fantasy TUF10: Episode 8

(Team Jon's) Marcus Jones (Coach Rampage) vs (Team Roxanne's) Mike Wessel (Coach Rashad)

Round 1: Mike Wessel began the final first round fight by coming out swinging against Marcus Jones. Jones calmly withstood the wild onslaught putting his hands up and out to protect himself. When Wessel tried to clinch and go for a trip takedown, Big Baby used good technique and some muscle to throw the smaller man down and gain top control. He immediately went for a kimura. Wessel escaped but got caught as Jones took his back. Jones was a little sloppy in allowing Wessel to spin out of that position, but out of nowhere, Jones showed the moxy of a 10-year veteran by slapping on a vicious armbar. Wessel yelped in pain and verbally tapped. All that in 49 seconds giving Team Rampage its first and only win.

-(Team Jon's) Marcus Jones def (Team Roxanne's) Mike Wessel via armbar in round 1 for 10pts.
-Team Jen, Team Jon, Team Tammy, and Team Tommy each earn 1pt for having Rampage as their coach.

After the fight Dana White, Rashad, and Rampage pick the Quarterfinal fights:

(Team Jon's) Roy Nelson v. (Team Adam's) Justin Wren
(Team Tammy's) Brendan Schaub v. (Team Jen's) Jon Madsen
(Team Roxanne's) James McSweeney v. (Team CJ's) Matt Mitrione
(Team Jon's) Marcus Jones v. (Team CJ's) Darrill Schoonover

Here are the scores after the first round:
24pts - Team CJ
20pts - Team Jon
17pts - Team Adam
14pts - Team Roxanne
11pts - Team Tammy
8pts - Team Jen
7pts - Team Roy
1pt - Team Tommy
